Let's dig deeper.

An Active Quarantine

I want to encourage everyone to find ways to stay active during these crazy days of being locked inside. For those that don’t have a regular routine, maybe this is a great opportunity to create some new habits. And then, once you exercise, you won’t feel bad about making this delightful looking dish.

There are a lot of online options. I have a Peloton, which I love. It might not be feasible for you to order a bike right now (it’s not cheap), but fortunately, they are offering a free three month trial for their online classes. The classes range from full-body strength, yoga, meditation, stretching and cardio, which includes…….wait for it…….DANCE CARDIO! I know! Dancing is the absolute best way to spend your days in quarantine. You can’t help being in a positive mood when you are dancing! You should at least give it a look-see! You can find the offer here.

Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube has free videos for every level. She also puts together a monthly playlist that you can see here & then view on YouTube.
POPSUGAR Fitness has tons of free videos on YouTube.
Daily Burn is extending their free trial to 60 days.
Cincinnati YMCAs are putting out video classes.  I’m not sure, but I am guessing local YMCAs will be doing the same.
Everybody Fights. I am also a member of this gym. I haven’t tried their online classes, but I love their workouts.

I practice yoga through Yoga With Adrienne every morning! I’ve also been deep cleaning my apartment, which I feel like is a workout in and of itself. But the newest addition to my routine is a daily walk – sometimes with my cat on a leash. I’m one of those people.

Love that you walk your cat. Ha! Going on walks is definitely a great way to stay active! I was able to do some hiking before they closed the state parks in Kentucky.

I just passed my initial training to teach Les Mills SPRINT, which is a HIIT workout that takes place on a bike. It is definitely NOT your momma’s cycle class. Totally recommend it for anyone who wants a challenge, plus Les Mills on Demand has a 60 day free trial right now! They have a lot of other workouts too, but my favorites are BodyPump, BodyCombat, and Barre. And I couldn’t stand the fact that I had no workout gear at home so I definitely bought myself a bike and weights. We’ve also been taking out our mountain bikes in the backyard, which has been great!

Also a big fan of Yoga with Adrienne! CorePower Yoga is offering some classes for free online that I’ve been doing. And rollerskating and hula hooping. Hoping to perfect my ability to do both at the same time.

Also…yard work is a great mind-clearer for me. If you don’t have a yard, pick up trash/sticks/junk in your neighborhood.

I do a lot of those workouts on the peloton app and at everybody fights. They are great. And good point about yard work. I totally agree.

Fitbit offers a good fitness program that has a wide range of activities for those who are experienced or are new to working out. Also never forget the all-powerful walk.! I try to go every two hours.

I ride my bicycle for an hour outside every day now – the weather is great, and there is no excuse to skip cardio at this point. I am rapidly getting back in shape!

These are great. I used to do Yoga with Adriene every day, a few years back. Since I know I like her style I am returning to her YouTube channel recently. Also after completing a yoga session is like the perfect time to fall into meditation 🧘‍♂️ . Additionally, I have a sidewalk that runs down the main road outside my apartment so I can walk up and down the hill and not be concerned about passing a bunch of people like I was when I tried going to the park the other day.

In January, we moved not only to a new neighborhood but a whole new part of Cincinnati. I used to enjoy running when I lived closer to the city because it became so familiar, but since we moved I have felt some type of way about running without being familiar with my surroundings. This has been a wonderful time to go on a whole lot of really long walks with Jacob to learn different routes and we have discovered a few parks and cemeteries nearby that make for good runs. Going on walks was the foundation of our friendship (which obviously grew because we are married now). But we got busy and got away from it, so it has been nice to reconnect on that level!
